Side Mount Channel
There are various situations where the side mounting the balustrade is better than top mounting it. Quickcode 183 Side Mount Easy Adjust channel meets all the same loading requirements as the Quickcode 180 Top Mount version. One benefit of side mounting the channel is it allows for fixing directly into the substrate. Getting a good fixing into the substrate is always important, but especially so with frameless system where there is considerably more weight in the glass.
In this project the channel isn’t visible from the deck. As the channel is fixed below the finished floor level, the decking runs up to the top of the channel. The end result is stunning, with the glass appearing to rise straight out of the decking.
Side mount channel needs be clad, as it has a fixing hole on both sides of the channel. This is obviously so that it can be securely fixed. We supply aluminium cladding, or we supply top trims that will incorporate different types of cladding. Cladding can also be powder coated to match in with other aspects of the project.
Our aim is make installation on site as easy as possible. We will cut the channel to exact lengths, and also cut and mitre the channel into bespoke angles. The balustrade in this project extends beyond the bottom of the stairs slightly. The channel was perfectly mitred to form the correct angle on the stairs. We can also work out the glass sizes, ensuring that all shaped panels will be correct.
