A Juliet balcony is a very narrow balcony or railing which sits just outside a window or pair of doors on an upper storey of a building. Whilst in the past these were typically made from metal vertical bars, glass Juliet balconies are becoming more and more common. As they are often used in conjunction with french doors, glass creates an open and airy space, whilst still protecting the edge. Our Quickcode 770 Stand-off Fittings are often used for fixing Juliet balconies. Stand-off fittings form a structural fixing that can be adapted to suit any substrate. Stand-off fittings provide a minimalist fixing option, that doesn’t interrupt the view at all.
As shown in the pictures above, glass can be shaped to suit the installation. In this case there were two window sills that had to be accommodated. Sometimes larger spacers can be used to clear sills and copings, but this is situation dependent. In this case bespoke length spacers would have caused a large gap between the wall.
Stand-off fittings can either be positioned vertically down each side of the glass, or a double row of them across the bottom of the glass. As a general rule of thumb, the further the fittings are apart vertically, the stronger the fixing on the glass. This usually applies to when there are two rows of fixings across the bottom of the glass.
