Building regulations state in a domestic property, drops of over 600mm must have a protected edge. In this project, the house is almost built into the hillside. This meant that the front patio needed to have a balustrade around it in order to make the area safe. Post and glass balustrade ensured an open and airy feel was maintained. With a sitting area out the front, it was also important not to compromise the view. All the posts are equally spaced along the balustrade, making it much more aesthetically pleasing. Another bespoke element in this project is the fully framed glass gate.
A fully framed glass gate was incorporated in the balustrade to provide access to the steps. At first glance this is barely visible, and matches in to the balustrade perfectly. A common misconception is that post and glass will be more expensive than a frameless glass system.
