Faceted Glass

Curved glass undoubtedly creates elegant and striking balustrades with high aesthetic appeal, however consideration should be given of the additional expense, limitations of radii and the potential differences of appearance between curved glass and flat glass installed alongside each other.

A machine rolled curved handrail with faceted flat glass infills panels has been used here to provide a cost effective solution for achieving a curved application, whilst still maintaining good visual appeal.

Regulation Heights For Balustrades in Residential Applications.

Balustrades installed in an INTERNAL residential application are generally only required by regulations to be 900mm high. How ever many homeowners do indeed prefer them to be 1000mm to 1100mm as 900mm can seem unsafe, especially if it is protecting a large drop.

It is important to remember that for EXTERNAL residential applications which protect a drop then the regulatory height is 1100mm minimum.

NOTE: Where the balustrade is installed on a raised/dwarf wall as in this instance then the 1100mm must be measured from the wall and not the finished floor level. This is because the wall can be used as a “step-up” point.

We can machine roll handrails to your drawings.
