In this project square posts and mid rails in a satin finish polished to 320 grit have been used. Cable can be used in a similar way to midrails, the difference is that cable is supplied overlength and can be cut to size on site. Mid rails have to be cut to length beforehand as there is no room for error. This means it is a more expensive option as the manufacturing process takes a lot more labour. All can be cut to size and delivered ready to install.
Polishing square posts is more difficult and time consuming than polishing round posts meaning that square posts also generally come at a higher cost. We re-polish all square posts to ensure that everything is polished to the same high standard.
Whether you decide to go for square posts or round posts is a decision based entirely on aesthetics.
This has been fitted using a side mount tensioner system. One of the benefits of this system are that they can fit into much tighter spaces, it is also easy to install.
The square hand rail means that changes in direction have to be a lot more bespoke than round handrails.

This is a versatile option as fixing positions, and spacer depths can be fully customised to suit your project.
Whilst this system is extremely versatile it can be problematic at an external corner, requiring 2 posts to be used on each side of the angle. This does not apply at an internal angle where a single post can be used.
M12 fixings are suitable for brick, concrete, steel, & timber substrates. Our technical team can advise on, and supply if required.
The fixings are also neat and discreet. They fit through the posts meaning no unsightly brackets and it is easy to install with Allen key tightening (tool available on request).
Side mount systems are very strong, and has been fully tested to easily meet 1.5kN loadings.
It is suitable for various tube sizes including round 42 & 28mm, and square (as per this project).
Almost any project that can be done with round posts can be done with square!
