Bespoke Glass

Have you experienced the frustration of trying to make stock size glass panels fit into a unique balustrade or installation? We can relate! We have many years of experience in the industry, and have come up against this problem in various different situations. That’s why we are committed to supplying bespoke glass specially manufactured to any unique size and shape.

Once glass has been toughened and laminated, it has a slight tendency to bow, and in larger panels this becomes a lot more obvious. This is something to keep in mind when ordering glass.

What we supply as standard!

Striving for quality is at the heart of everything we do. Therefore every panel of glass we supply comes with various extras as standard;

  • Polished edges all round
  • Nominal radius corners – also polished
  • Holes for the safety pins with clamps are included in the price for most monolithic glass, i.e. 10, 12, 15mm

Ways in which we supply Bespoke Glass

Template Glass

Doing an accurate drawing for glass manufacture, or even supplying accurate measurements for us to draw up, can be tricky. In situations where there are awkward angles or lengths, it is sometimes easier to create an template out of a solid timber sheet. With a timber template, you can have the confidence that the glass is going to fit perfectly, without having to do complicated calculations.

Bespoke posts and glass heights

Bespoke heights

Building regulations (primarily BS6180) state that balustrades must be a minimum of 900mm internally, and 1100mm externally. This is not definitive, and there are many situations where a different height balustrade might be preferable. For example, to act as a wind break.

Unique Designs

Glass is a hugely versatile material, and is effective in many different situations. Above are some examples of where we worked with our customers to create a unique installation.

Curved or Facetted Glass

Curved glass undoubtedly creates elegant and striking balustrades with high aesthetic appeal. However, consideration must be given to the additional expense and limitations of radii. There is also the differences of appearance between curved glass and flat glass installed alongside each other.

A machine rolled curved handrail with facetted flat glass infills panels creates the same visual, without the higher price tag of the real thing. The result is stunning and creates an attractive, curving feature in its own right. So, you still achieve the desired effect of gentle curves, but more importantly you can do so on a budget.
